What is it to be contemporary?

One of the signs of Jorge Semprún’s relevance is the unflagging interest in revisiting his work through the lens of the different branches of contemporary thought. This combination of vantage points is probably the only conceivable position from which to understand this important figure. But what are the aspects that make him our contemporary? What part of his thinking is in dialogue with the challenges of modern society? The four people interviewed for thisscreen projection, who have studied Semprún’s life and work, drawn to the mystery of his presence, explore these questions.
